GOALS FOR 2005-2006 SCHOOL
YEAR
The primary functions of the
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Committee is to promote educational, physical,
cultural and spiritual development in our students while facilitating and
maintaining effective communication between families and faculty/staff. In addition, the PTO supports
school-wide activities for students to promote school/community
spirit.
Committee members should have the
promotion of the committee’s purpose as their primary motivation in
participating on this committee.
Membership will consist of the
school principal, a current member of the school board and other interested
volunteers. Persons with strong
communication and organizational skills are desired and encouraged. Additionally, the committee will consist
of a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. A Co-President and Co-vice-President may
be appointed if enough interest supports the positions. The committee members shall
elect/appoint such officers annually.
The President presides over the committee from May 15 of the present
school year until May 15th of the second school year.
Members and officers should be
willing to commit a minimum of 8 hours per month to the committee during the
school year and approximately 4-6 hours per month during the summer months. Additional time each month may be
required to support the goals and activities of the committee. Involvement in various school-wide
activities that promote our purpose, as well as, generate school spirit among
our students is required.
The duties of the committee will include but may not be
limited to the following:
Services, additional help, PTO
meeting guests, etc.

Organize and facilitate bingos, book fairs,
and/or other community building fundraisers.

Prepare weekly “PTO Weekly” for distribution in
the white envelope.
·
Finance extra faculty/staff compensation
(Christmas bonus, back to school gift, birthday).
·
Finance 8th grade graduation
reception.
·
Finance 2nd grade 1st Holy
Communion reception.
·
Work in conjunction with the other school
committees to promote the goals of those
committees.
·
Provide the faculty/staff and families with
accurate and current financial status of the PTO
·
Recruit volunteers to provide supplies and man
hours for all PTO sponsored activities and events.
·
Finance ribbons and trophies for Science
Fair.
·
Finance red ribbons for red ribbon
week.

Maintain effective communication between faculty/staff and
families.
WHY
Ongoing communication between
faculty/staff and families is essential to the effective exchange of
information. At the same time it
serves to promote confidence and trust between the two
parties.

The committee will accomplish
this goal in the following ways:
